A full native to Flutter rewrite of a Christian prayer app, pairing AI generated, Scripture fused prayers with a validated spiritual wellbeing tracker and a live community prayer wall.
01The challenge
A full rewrite, without losing a single prayer
The app had shipped in 2023 with real users and years of prayer history on an older codebase. All of it had to survive the move.
A pre null safety codebase
The rewrite had to carry existing accounts and prayer history across without loss.
Strictly Scripture
Generic meditation apps blend traditions. Every word here is the user's own or drawn from the Bible.
Prayer chains go stale
A forwarded request ages the moment it is sent, so intercessors end up praying yesterday's story.
No tracker existed
No prayer app paired validated wellbeing scales with daily prayer habits in one dashboard.
02What we built
A modern Flutter app on the same spiritual spine
One codebase for iOS, Android and web, wired to Firebase and OpenAI through Cloud Functions, then the two modules that make it more than a prayer generator.
Migration mapping
Audited the prior codebase and Firestore schema before the null safe rewrite, so history carried over cleanly.
Core prayer engine
Rebuilt AI prayer generation end to end, Cloud Functions calling OpenAI behind Provider state.

The psychometric wellbeing tracker, the mood based Pray from the Soul flow, and the Living Prayer Chain.
Every module plugs into the same Scripture spine, so a feature added later never fights the architecture that came before it.
